House Collapsed And Fell On Creek In Tomas Morato, Quezon City
QUEZON CITY – A house collapsed and fell on a creek in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, which left with one fatality and 3 more casualties.
According to ABS-CBN News, Sonny Macabagdal, the owner of the house, said that they suddenly heard a loud sound at about 2 PM Monday.
It turns out that the beams supporting the house lost hold, causing the house to collapse.
“Nasa labas po kami sa kalsada tapos may malakas na kalabog, bumagsak na pala ang bahay,”
Anamarie Remudo, a resident who described the incident as an earthquake.
“Tapos na po ako maglaba tapos may narinig ako ingay, tapos unti-unting yumuyugyog yung bahay, akala ko nga may lindol eh,”
The rescue operatin=on went slowly as they rescue Sonny’s 79-year-old mother and his two children. Unfortunately, they were unable to save Sonny’s 13-year old niece as her head was already submerged under water for too long.
Sonny mourned for her death since he raised his niece like his own.
As per the report, they lived in the area for 20 years and knew the dangers it brings.
Jopet Abando of Barangay Obrero deduced that the foundation of the house was possibly weak, considering there was no rain when the incident happened.
“Sa tingin ko po mahina na ‘yung pundasyon. Nabali po ung pinaka-biga niya at saka ‘yung poste. Sementado po ‘yung poste niya pero ‘yung mga sahig niya kahoy,”
The QC authorities are currently probing on the incident.
The family was included in the relocation list by the National Housing Authority but they were unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
