Bohol and Filipino pride, Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista suffered a heartbreaking lost against the visiting Mexican fighter Jose Ramirez via split decision on Saturday night boxing match held at Davao City.
Based upon the judges score card, Bautista scored 114-111 while Ramirez scored 114-111 in the remaining two judges scorecard. The Mexican grabbed the WBO International Featherweight title.
During the bloody fight, Bautista suffered serious cuts during the 12-rounds of professional boxing held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) Gymnasium in Davao City.
The 26-year-old boxer, Bautista dropped his record to 34 wins (25 KO’s) and 3 losses while the 25-year-old Ramirez improved his record to 25-3 with 15 KO’s. The loss of Bautista added another agony to the boxing community in the Philippines after suffering from unsuccessful world title defense starting from Pacquiao, Viloria & Donaire.
