Four Baranggay officials including a 16 years old Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman died when they were gun shot by a former baranggay captain. Three others were wounded in the said incident.
Noel Ayalin, 48 years old was the last year captain of Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, Negros Occidental. He was alleged to steal 1.2 million peso baranggay found during his term. In this connection, present baranggay officials are asking him to present a liquidation papers to clear out his name.
The crime happened last Sunday morning, while the present officials are having their council session in Baranggay kapitan Ramon. Ayalin brought a 45 cal. Piston and fired several times killing SK Chairman Imee Occenia, 16, and councilors Luzviminda Cotamen, 45; Freddie Juno, 58 and Pedrito Orocio, 52.
Other officials were wounded including the present Baranggay Captain Ramon Celebre, 45, and councilors Salvacion Corugda, 42 and Lenny Leorca, 34. They were brought to the Hospital in Bacolod.
President of the Silay’s (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation of Baranggay Captains, Geodith Gallego said that he tried to make Ayalin surrender after he contacts it last Monday via cellular phone. “He told me that if the police came to arrest him, he would commit suicide before they could get him” Gallego said. He also tried to ask Ayalin the reason why he did the crime but it refuses to answer. “There seem to be no remorse in his voice” he added.
Residents had said that Ayalin started to act strange and get infuriated last Saturday when the old center vehicle owned by the baranggay was retrieved from him.
Police are now securing the lives of the three victims who survived the incident in Bacolod City Hospital while families of Ayalin are being guarded for they might be targeted by the relatives of the victims.
Jesse M. Robredo, Interior Secretary of the Philippine National Police in Western Visayas is now coordinating to all the police in the province for faster arrest of Ayalin.
“The department highly condemns the brutal killing of the Kapitan Ramon Officials and will ensure that the lone suspect will be put behind bars. The police should immediately apprehend Ayalin and file appropriate charges against him”. Robredo said.
Robredo gives an advice to the Baranggay officials to be careful and Caution in doing their duties, especially the fight against corruption.
Vacant position in the council will be replaced by the remaining councilors depending on their ranking during the last election.
