KIA has direct international flights from many countries including China. The three Chinese, along with a three-year-old girl, arrived at KIA on different dates. The three were immediately taken to the hospital for examination.

According to the report of ABS-CBN News, Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr., Provincial Health Officer 1 of Aklan Provincial Hospital, said they took specimens and blood samples from the 3 tourists.

“Because they had symptoms and they flew in from China, they were all taken to the hospital here in Kalibo for observation,” said Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr., provincial health officer of Aklan.

He denied that three tourists had been placed in quarantine. He allegedly took a sample of blood and saliva to the hospital and was then allowed to continue in Boracay.

“No, it’s not quarantine. Kung quarantine, you restrict ‘yong tao na hindi siya lumabas. Eto, dinischarge na at nakapunta na ng Boracay. We just took samples from them and they were allowed to proceed to Boracay. They were all outpatients,” Dr. Cuachon added.

Last Friday, a 29-year-old female tourist was brought to the provincial hospital after personnel of the Bureau of Quarantine detected that the tourist had fever, cough, and colds. She was released after her temperature returned to normal the following day.
