Photo of Angkas Rider Riding at the Back of Passenger Instead of Driving Goes Viral
A photo of an Angkas rider who is riding at the back of the passengers instead of driving his motorcycle goes viral on social media.
Because of traffic congestion and overpopulation of cars in Metro Manila motorcycle-taxis have been popular with the commuters in the Philippines because it is the fastest way to get into your destination.
Recently, Many passengers of the motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas were confused about the new update of the Angkas app. Angkas now requires passengers to provide their weight information and says it may deny rides to “heavy passengers.”
In the implementation of the new policy, netizen Al Dave Tejada saw an Angkas driver and his female passenger. But instead of the Angkas driver being on the steering wheel his passenger was driving the motorcycle.
Many netizens have been drawn to the scene by the driver and his passenger. Others say that because the passengers exceed on the weight limit and the Angkas driver becomes the passenger.
On the other hand, amidst speculations that one of Angkas’ competitor, Joy Ride being backed by a strong political figure, the DOTr suddenly eradicated any chance for the motorcycle-hailing services to continue. Starting next week three motorcycle hailing apps Angkas, Joyride and Move it will be deemed illegal.
