Philippine’s SEA Games Athlete Bags Silver Medal in Tennis and Sweet Yes From GF
A Philippine’s SEA Games Games athlete in tennis earned more than a medal at the event. He also got a “yes” from his girlfriend.
Philippines’ silver medal winner in men’s double tennis event of South East Asian Games 2019, Ruben Gonzales proposed his girlfriend Michele Marie Bumgarner on the court immediately after the medal ceremony.
Filipino tennis player Ruben Gonzales had more reasons to celebrate; not only did he bag a silver medal but his girlfriend Michele Bumgarner also accepted his wedding proposal.
Gonzales and his partner Treat Huey fell short in the gold medal match of men’s doubles against compatriots Francis Casey Alcantara and Jeson Patrombon to a 7-6 (6-2), 7-5. However, despite the defeat, Gonzales will go home a happy man.
After the awarding ceremony, Gonzales surprised everyone when he asked his sweetheart Michele Bumgarner when he knelt down in one knee and asked her hand in marriage. Bumgarner, who is a race car driver, was of course thrilled and said her resounding, “yes.”
