Filipino Couple Wins Gold At 2019 SEA Games Dancesport
FILIPINO COUPLE WINS GOLD – Mark Jayson Gayon and Mary Joy Renigen won tow more gold medals for the Philippine at the 2019 SEA Games Dancesport competition.
The Story of Mark and Mary didn’t start with rainbows and butterflies or love at first sight. The duo even said that they often fought.
According to an article from ABS-CBN, the two ere classmates in college but they were never friends at first. They even resented each other.
Renigen told ABS-CBN that she and Mark were just in the same friend group but weren’t really friends. She added that Mark’s face was different, “Pang ballroom lagi itsura niya“.
However, that story is now in the past as the two weren’t only partners in dancesport, but partners in Love. Along with this, they won 2 gold medals for Standard Waltz and Standard Slow Foxtrot.
On the dancefloor, the two have this oozing chemistry that you cannot fake. That’s because the duo never needed to fake anything in the first place.
You don’t have to fake it. It’s already there. I’m so proud na we’re together, said Renigen. This kind of connection does not happen often especially with this caliber of competition.
The two have been together for four years now. Their relationship blossomed when Renigen applied for an internship in Studio 116.
As per the article, it seemed like Gayon and Renigen were fated to become partners. At that time, Gayon didn’t have a partner so he was paired with Renigen.
With this brand new experience, Renigen had this to say:
Sobrang saya ng feeling kasi you have your the Filipinos at your back. Hindi lang ikaw yung nirerepresent, hindi lang kami, hindi lang yung flag, kundi lahat ng taong nanonood sa amin
Mary Joy Renigen
