Here are the four facial features that most of the people first notice
Most people first notice these four facial features and not the usual belief that someone would always first notice the eyes or the nose.
Leslie Zebrowitz, Ph.D., a psychologist at Brandeis University, said that most people have tendencies to judge you based on four (4) unusual features of your face and these are the babyfaceness, familiarity, fitness, and emotional resemblance.
- Babyfaceness – if you have large eyes, short chins, round faces, and large foreheads
- Familiarity and fitness – more people will judge you as someone who is likable, intelligent, and capable
- Emotional resemblance – if you are showing positive emotional expressions on your face is a good sign

Facial features under two other judgments, according to Benedict Jones, Ph.D., a professor in the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Glasgow are:
- Trustworthiness – This reflects our perceptions of how likely we think someone would be to inflict harm on us
- Dominance – This reflects our impressions of how capable a person would be to inflict harm on us
Dr. Jones added that smiles and frowns are used by people to partly determine the trustworthiness. On the other hand, people determine dominance from a person’s babyfacedness, strength, and age.
However, there is a variation when it comes to facial first impression research. It is because there is a difference depending on the culture of places around the globe, based on the article from Reader’s Digest. With this, it is more likely appropriate to put your best face forward rather than the cliche of putting your best foot forward in meeting someone new.
What can you say about this?
