Lyrics And Video Of A Filipino Children Song “Leron Leron Sinta”
LERON LERON SINTA – Here is the full lyrics and the video of one of the well-known Filipino children song “Leron Leron Sinta”.
There are many well-known Filipino children songs that we still know until now like Magtanim Ay Di Biro, Bahay Kubo, Ako Ay May Lobo, Sitsiritsit, and more. One of these songs is this particular song about courtship and working in the fields.
Also known in the English translation “My Dear, Little Leron”, it is a Tagalog song which is usually a work song, referring to workers in the field who harvest fruits.
Its origin remain unclear since there are limited resources of scholarly literature which focuses on Philippine folk. The song is used to be sung by children due to its catchy tune. Some parts of the song however, have elements that are targeted for a more mature audience.
It is also reported that the song is also meant to be a courtship song, especially since the word “Sinta” (Tagalog for “dear”, “love”) is literally in the title.
Here is the full lyrics of the song:
Leron, leron sinta
Buko ng papaya,
Dala-dala’y buslo,
Sisidlan ng bunga,
Pagdating sa dulo’y
Nabali ang sanga
Kapos kapalaran,
Humanap ng iba.
Gumising ka, Neneng,
Tayo’y manampalok,
Dalhin mo ang buslong
Sisidlan ng hinog.
Pagdating sa dulo’y
Lalamba-lambayog,
Kumapit ka, neneng,
Baka ka mahulog.
Leron, leron sinta
Buko ng papaya,
Dala-dala’y buslo,
Sisidlan ng bunga,
Pagdating sa dulo’y
Nabali ang sanga
Kapos kapalaran,
Ang ibigin ko’y
Lalaking matapang,
Ang baril nya’y pito,
Ang sundang nya’y siyam
Ang sundang nya’y siyam
Ang lalakarin nya’y
Parte ng dinulang
Isang pinggang pansit
Ang kanyang kalaban.
