A Cartoonist From Canada Lost His Job After His Illustration Of Donald Trump Went Viral
CANADIAN – A controversial illustration of US President Donald Trump went viral on social media and caused this cartoonist to be fired.
There are so many artists that are very vocal about their stand on their political preferences. Cartoons depicting current issues has also been a norm for several years.
Recently, a Canadian cartoonist on Twitter posted a cartoon that shows the US President golfing over the dead migrants who drowned. The twitter post went viral last Wednesday.
The cartoonist, Michael de Adder then announced on Twitter, that he was fired from his job from the publishing company where he worked.
The publishing company was in New Brunswick, Canada.
The controversial cartoon was showing Donald Trump asking the drowned migrants “Do you mind if I play through?”
The reference of the cartoon was the recent viral image of Oscar Alberto Martínez and his 23-month daughter Angie Valeria. They were seen lying face down, they reportedly drowned during an attempt to cross Rio Grande River and get to the US.
De Adder made the announcement on Twitter:
“The highs and lows of cartooning. Today I was just let go from all newspapers in New Brunswick”
He also revealed later on that he had a contract to work for Brunswick News Inc. According to him, he wasn’t an employee that can be fired.
In response, Brunswick News Inc. also released a statement last Sunday saying “it is entirely incorrect to suggest” that they’ve cancelled a contract with De Adder over a Trump Cartoon.
Brunswick News Inc. wrote: “This is a false narrative which has emerged carelessly and recklessly on social media.”
This is based on an article from CNN.
That is all there is to it, at lest for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
