ELEMENTS OF PLOT – In this article, we will talk about the five elements of plot idea that makes the story or novel organized and whole.
Whenever you are starting to make a story, novel, or a short story, you have to learn about the plot structure, which includes events that make up the idea of writing.
Of course there has to be conflict, where the main character has to face issues or troubles, or sometimes, the antagonist who makes it hard for our hero. Otherwise, there will be no progress to the story.
So here are the following five elements:
1. Introduction or Exposition
This is usually the beginning of a story. It is where the basic characters and plot elements such as setting are revealed. In some cases, the conflict is already been hinted at the beginning. It’s important as this is where the author catches the reader’s attention.
2. Rising Action
This will be found at the first third of a story, novel or script. This is where we introduce the conflict our main character has to face as things start to complicate around him/her or them.
3. Climax
Often confused as the ending, but in this case, this is the turning point of the story. This is where the main character feels that he is in danger or he is about to fail to succeed in the conflict may it be physically or mentally.
4. Falling Action
The aftermath of the climax. This includes events that will help to fully resolve the conflict, as well as to present the actions the main character has done, whether it be good or bad.
5. Resolution or Conclusion
The ending of a story, novel, or script, which includes resolution itself. This is where all loose ends are tied up, conflicts are concluded, outcomes are revealed and a happy or sad ending takes place.
