Project NOAH Android Version Launched (Download)

One of the most significant breakthrough in the Philippine technology industry is the introduction of the Project NOAH mobile applications. NOAH which stands for Nationwide Operational (–foul word(s) removed–)sment of Hazards will help every Filipino to get critical weather updates with just a few clicks.

The project was spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in coordination with some of the well-known Filipino developers led by Project NOAH head Mahar Lagmay.

The entire group of developers of Project NOAH, were composed of Davao-based developer Rolly Rulete along with team mates Pablito Veroy and Jay Albano. The project was a prototype entry during Smart Communication’s first HTML5 hackathon.

The project was the winner of the “Best Use of Smart API’s,” which was part of the projects of Smart Communications through their mother firm, The Philippine Long Distance Telephone company.

The project will be instrumental in times of disasters and natural calamities. For the past few months, the Project NOAH project set sail as an online service but the developers with some prominent backers decided to make an Android application.

The Project NOAH app is now available through Google Play Store, the project will allow users to view weather updates in their respective areas using a variety of metrics, such as probability of rain, rain gauge measure, water levels, PAGASA typhoon tracks, and doppler radar readings.

According to Project NOAH head Mahar Lagmay confirmed through his official Twitter account that the project curator is now preparing for the iOS version of the project which is set for launch this coming December 2012.
