Senatorial Candidate Samira Gutoc Responds To PWD Jokes Thrown By Jay Sonza
SAMIRA GUTOC – The aspiring senator recently had responded via Twitter
to former newscaster Jay Sonza questioning her well-being.
The veteran journalist Jay Sonza has been involved in several social media issues in the past including a controversial post he made back in 2018.
This time, Jay Sonza made a Twitter post seemingly asking if the senatorial candidate Samira Gutoc has a condition. In his post he asked:
“May diperensiya ba si samira gutoc? Iba klase kasi ang dating niya tuwing magbubukas siya ng bibig.”
“Does Samira Gutoc have a problem? Because it seems different every time she opens her mouth.”
This is according to an article from MSN News.
Sonza’s remark came after the previous CNN Senatorial Debate 2019 where Samira Gutoc spoke as part of the debate.
Gutoc then responded to the former broadcaster by also posting on her Twitter feed.
In which she responded saying:
“Rape jokes, PWD jokes, they come from the same monster. I will not stand idly as you make disability a laughing matter. How far you fell from grace, and you think you can still joke your way into relevance? I am sure it will not resurrect your dead journalistic career.”
Posted with the hashtag #36Gutoc.
Samira Gutoc, who was also a Muslim Activist, a politician and a writer, revealed during the debate in CNN that she resigned from her position a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission after the President’s controversial rape joke.
Meanwhile, the netizens praised Gutoc’s response.
“Ang subtle naman manunog nitong si Mam @SamiraGutoc! Kaya nga nung magbitiw sya dhil sa rape jokes nasabi ko sa sarili ko, iboboto ko sya! Para sa kababaihan. Para sa tama. Para sa prinsipyo! Mabuhay ang totoong matapang at may dugong Mindanaoan!” – @iamflongdichoso
“Yahooooooo #SamiraSaSenado
I love you po! The country needs someone like you.
Hindi tuta, hindi utak talangka, hindi basura gaya ni Jay Sonza na walang kakwenta kwenta! @JaySonza3#36Gutoc” – @PunchTheLies
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
