Smart Gilas Pilipinas was defeated by a more determined Lebanese National Basketball with the final score at 91-72 and ended the Philippines winning streak with 4-1 win-loss record.
The Philippine Team could not contained the taller Lebanese Team as they were downed by more than 7 points in the early start of the first quarter and the Middle Eastern Team never looked back and continued to demolished the Philippine Team. Lebanon led the game with 11 points in the first half.
The loss of the Smart Gilas was crucial to the tournament because of the fact that the championship is decided by win-loss records at the end of the single round-robin competition. Iran currently led the team standing with the Philippines at 2nd place with 4-2 slate.
Smart Gilas rebounded and outscored Lebanon in the third quarter scoring with 31-14 but not enough for the team because Lebanon still led the game with barely 10 minutes left at 74-46.
Jarrid Famous, the former Meralco Bolts import led the Lebanese team in demolishing the Smart Gilas, he scored his 24th point of the game as the 4th quarter opened. The Lebanese even made a 30-point advantage at 78-48.
