11-Year-Old Girl Critical Condition After Nearly Drowning At Manila Bay

MANILA BAY – An 11-year-old girl is currently in critical condition after nearly drowning at the Manila Bay.

Earlier this year, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte approved the 7-year rehabilitation project of Manila Bay.

This project is after the successful 6-months rehabilitation of the country’s top tourist destination, Boracay.

Following a previous article, we featured the before and after photos of the progress of the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.

A lot of Filipino was surprised by the change of the bay which was considered one of the dirtiest bays in the Philippines.

In a report, a lady was caught on camera urinating and disposing her poop along the shore of the bay. The photo elicits negative comments from the netizens.

The shameless lady did not contemplate the hard work of the volunteers and the government officials in cleaning the Manila Bay.

Meanwhile, a tragic incident happened yesterday to an 11-year-old while swimming at Manila Bay.

Based on a report from Remate, the young girl’s mother Marivic Madilas stated that her daughter drowned and swallowed water from the bay.

The girl is currently confined to the pediatric intensive care unit at the Manila Hospital.

According to the report, Marivic Madilas said she has no idea that her daughter went with her friends swimming at the bay yesterday.

The mother is currently asking for financial support to pay the bills in the hospital.

Based on a report, the Department of Health (DOH) has already warned the public that the water in the bay is still not safe for swimming even if the garbage was removed.

DOH stated that accidentally drinking the water could cause illness such as gastroenteritis, typhoid fever, skin diseases, and hepatitis A.

Moreover, it’s been a while since the government warned the public about the dangers of swimming on the Manila Bay sea water.
