Transport Group FEJODAP Request LTFRB to Increase Minimum Fare
TRANSPORT GROUP – The transport group FEJODAP requested for the LTFRB to increase the minimum fare.
The most popular transportation and the main source of transportation in the Philippines are jeepneys, buses,
Jeepneys were also called “King of The Road” for it joins the busy traffic and other kinds of vehicles on the highways.
Most Filipino people preferred riding jeepney because it is inexpensive, unlike taxis where you pay for about P200.
Based on a report from Philstar, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have decreased the fare last December into P9.
Now, the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (FEJODAP) requested to bring back the P10 fare due to the increase of fuel price.
According to the report, FEJODAP President Zenaida Maranan is the one who asked for the LTFRB to increase the jeepney fare.
Maranan stated that the price of fuel currently stand at P39 to P40 per liter which is much higher than the previous P2 fuel price.
The transport group FEJODAP asked for a provisional authority from the LTFRP Chairperson Martin Delgra III to return the P10 minimum fare.
Zenaida Maranan said on the radio interview that their request could also benefit the LTFRB.
Based on the report, Martin Delgra III did not approve the appeal of the transport group FEJODAP. He said it is too early for them to ask for a fare increase. The Pangkalahatang Sanggunian Manila and Suburbs Drivers Association also approves with the LTFRB chairperson.
“Kaya pa naman namin ang kasalukuyang oil price increase,” said Delgra.
The chairperson said that they will only request another price hike if the price of the fuel will reach P44.
