Increased Charges Implemented By Maynilad And Manila Water Has Taken Effect Ever Since New Year
MAYNILAD – The iincreased charges implemented by Maynilad Water Services and Manila Water has already taken effect since January 1 (Tuesday).
A report from Radyo Inquirer states that the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) approved the said increase of the two water companies in accordance to the yearly rate adjustment which is based on inflation.
Manila Water spokesperson Jeric Sevilla said in an interview that the inflation rate of 5.7% last July served as the basis of the increased charges.
Based on the concession agreement, the said inflation rate last July is also the basis for the implemented increase in the following year
As per the report, the approved increase of Manila Water by the MWSS is now ₱0.64 per cubic meter. On the other hand, the approved increase of Maynilad is now ₱1.48 per cubic meter. The increase in the January bill for consumers is also included
