Did Nyoy Volante really court Jennylyn Mercado back then?
Singer-songwriter and actor Nyoy Volante has addressed the question of whether he and Kapuso Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado ever had a romantic relationship in the past.
On Fast Talk with Boy Abunda last Thursday, September 17, the “King of Talk,” Boy Abunda, asked Nyoy if he had indeed courted Jennylyn.
The singer admitted that back then, he and Jennylyn were really close and they would see each other frequently.
“Jennylyn and I, noong mga panahon na ‘yun, there was a point in time na naging close kami talaga. She was watching my shows; we were hanging out,” Nyoy Volante shared, based on the article in GMA Entertainment.
When Tito Boy mentioned that at that time, Jennylyn Mercado’s boyfriend was Mark Herras, and allegedly he was jealous of the actress’s closeness with Nyoy.
“Wow, grabe naman. Hindi ko na alam ‘yun,” the singer responded.
Nyoy clarified that whatever transpired between him and Jennylyn in the past had no label, and that they simply became close to each other.
“What we had was what we had. It was there; I, definitely, was very much fond of her, pero whatever we had before, it’s not for being safe, pero wala naman siyang label or anything. Basta ang alam ko, sobrang naging close lang kami before,” the singer explained.

The singer married Filipino theater actress Mikkie Bradshaw in 2016, while Jennylyn married Kapuso drama king Dennis Trillo in 2021.
Meanwhile, Nyoy Volante is currently starring in the GMA Afternoon Prime musical drama series Born to Shine as Elvis Quijano, the president of a recording company. The series features Zephanie Dimaranan, Michael Sager, and Olive May as lead stars. It is directed by Rod Marmol.
