Niño Muhlach Faces Two Year Driving Ban Following Marcos Highway Crash
NIÑO MUHLACH – A shocking turn of events has left veteran actor Niño Muhlach without a driver’s license for two years following an accident along Marcos Highway in Antipolo.
Veteran actor and businessman Niño Muhlach has been barred from driving for two years after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) revoked his driver’s license following a road accident in Antipolo City, Rizal.
The LTO imposed a two-year revocation on Muhlach’s driver’s license after he was involved in an accident along Marcos Highway in August 2026. The incident reportedly occurred while the actor was driving his vehicle in the area.
According to reports, Muhlach lost control of his vehicle and crashed into several establishments along the road. A motorcycle rider was also involved in the incident and sustained injuries.
The LTO investigation determined that excessive fatigue contributed to the accident. Authorities found that the actor apparently lost control of his vehicle after becoming extremely tired while driving.
Three buildings were reportedly struck by the vehicle during the incident, while the motorcycle rider was injured. The accident prompted the LTO to conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and whether administrative penalties should be imposed.
Following the agency’s decision, Muhlach’s vehicle will remain under alarm status. This measure is intended to ensure the implementation of the imposed penalties and prevent transactions involving the vehicle while the case remains subject to the LTO’s requirements.
LTO chief Markus Lacalinao emphasized that traffic regulations apply regardless of a person’s position or public status.
“The LTO is serious about enforcing traffic laws, especially regarding violations that could endanger other road users,” according to Lacalinao.
He further stressed that penalties would be determined based on the findings of the investigation and hearing.
“We will impose appropriate penalties based on the results of the investigation and hearing, regardless of a person’s status,” he added.
Muhlach himself acknowledged in a statement that he had fallen asleep while driving because he was extremely tired. His admission is consistent with the LTO’s finding that fatigue played a role in the accident.
With the two-year revocation now in effect, the veteran actor will not be permitted to legally drive during the period covered by the penalty. The case also highlights the importance of avoiding driving when excessively fatigued, as losing alertness behind the wheel can put drivers, passengers, and other road users at risk.
