GirlTrends Resurface Online & Chie Filomeno Has The Funniest Reaction
CHIE FILOMENO – A throwback dance clip of GirlTrends is making rounds online again, and even Chie Filomeno could not help but react.
Kapamilya actress Chie Filomeno recently amused netizens after reacting to a resurfaced viral video involving the former all-female group GirlTrends (GT), which has once again become a hot topic online amid the hype surrounding the globally renowned Coachella.
The buzz intensified following the recent performance of the Nation’s girl group BINI, which further fueled discussions about Filipino acts making waves on international stages. In a humorous twist, a social media page poked fun at GirlTrends by reuploading their now-infamous dance performance, drawing laughter and nostalgia from viewers.

GirlTrends first went viral back in 2019 due to their noticeably unsynchronized dance moves during a production number on It’s Showtime. Despite the criticism at the time, clips from the performance have continued to circulate online, often being turned into memes and comedic content.
The particular performance featured members including Chie Filomeno, Dawn Chang, Mica Javier, Krissha Viaje, Mikee Agustin, Jessica Marasigan, Joana Hipolito, and Sammie Rimando. They danced to “How Do You Sleep” by Sam Smith.
In an Instagram post by the social media page Kabulastugan, the viral clip was once again shared with a playful caption that read, “humanda kayo next year, coachella,” followed by “the group we keep failing to send.”
Rather than taking offense, Chie responded with humor, showing that she could laugh at the situation. “Teeeeh, nabunot nanaman kami!! HAAHHAHAHAHAH,” she commented, indicating that she found the resurfacing of the video entertaining rather than insulting. She even went on to share the post on her own Instagram story, further embracing the joke.

GirlTrends was launched in 2016 as a girl group under It’s Showtime, originally composed of 22 members, including Chie and Dawn Chang. The group had its share of internal issues, including misunderstandings that played out on social media.
In a past interview, former member Dawn Chang explained that their varying schedules made it difficult to rehearse together consistently. She also noted that not all members were trained performers, particularly when it came to dancing, something that may have contributed to their viral moment.
Despite the criticisms, the recent online buzz proves that GirlTrends continues to be remembered, this time with humor and a sense of nostalgia.
