A family in Cavite has this accusation against Sen. Cynthia Villar
Former senator Cynthia Villar, who is also known for her family’s real estate business, allegeldy involved in a land-grabbing incident in Bacoor, Cavite.
The Villar Land Holdings Corporation is among the biggest Philippine holding companies with stakes in real estate and death care industries. Under this are other subsidiaries. For several years, the former senator’s husband, Manny Villar, has been hailed as the richest man in the country.
In a recent report from Bilyonaryo News Channel, Sen. Cynthia Villar was accused by the Alonzo family in Brgy. Molino 6 in Bacoor, Cavite, of grabbing their land that they inherited from their elders.
The Alonzos were told that they are now “squatters” or illegal settlers in their own land, after former Sen. Villar had taken their 2.5 hectares of land without them knowing about it.
One of the members of the Alonzo family shared that he was able to meet Villar one time, and asked her what he could do for her, and reportedly, the former senator’s answer was, “Nabili ko na ‘to,” and she immediately left.
The family Alonzo showed land titles to support their claim that they own the land, which they inherited from their parents. The land was used for farming, and according to one Alonzo family member, there had been an irrigation system back then, but allegedly Villar’s company created a river drive.
It was said that the land-grabbing efforts started in 2023. The Alonzo family even showed a video showing that security guards were destroying their fences and the area where vegetables were planted, for their source of income.
Based on the report, the Alonzo family has already reached out to different agencies that could help address their problem, but they weren’t able to receive the help they needed because it was not easy to oppose wealthy people.
As of this writing, Cynthia Villar has not yet released a statement regarding the accusation against her.
