AJ Raval Reveals the Hidden Start of Her Romance w/ Aljur Abrenica
AJ RAVAL – Actress AJ Raval has finally opened up about the unexpected and heartfelt way Aljur Abrenica began courting her—starting not with her, but with her parents.
AJ Raval has finally opened up about the real beginnings of her romance with actor Aljur Abrenica, revealing that their love story quietly started during the filming of their movie “Nerisa.” The two first worked together in 2021 under Viva Films, portraying siblings in the project. But behind the scenes, something unexpected was already unfolding.
According to AJ, she began receiving flowers on set even when she didn’t know who was sending them. She recalled the moment in an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. “Hindi po kami nag-uusap ni Aljur, pero nagtataka po ako, kapag po kasi nagsu-shooting, ang dala ko, box. ‘Bakit po laging may bulaklak sa loob?’ Araw-araw bulaklak. Hindi ko po alam saan galing,” she shared.
She initially assumed the flowers were from fans. “E, siyempre, ‘pag po nasa province, ‘di ba may mga fan po nagbibigay ng food. Akala ko ganu’n lang po,” she said. It wasn’t until the last day of filming that the mystery sender revealed himself. “And then, noong last day po namin, kumatok po siya mismo sa room ko. Pagbukas ko po, si Aljur po, may dinala po siyang rose na pinitas lang po niya somewhere,” AJ said.
Despite the sweet gesture, AJ clarified that Aljur was not yet formally courting her at the time. “Hindi pa po. As in, bigay lang. Tapos, umalis. Then, matagal na panahon pa po.” She added that she never assumed Aljur had feelings for her, saying, “Hindi po kasi ako feelingera, assuming na, ‘Ah gusto ako nito.’ So, ipina-process ko pa po sa isip ko.”
Their connection deepened later during a reunion with their “Nerisa” co-stars. This time, Aljur pursued her seriously—starting with her family. “Then, nag-usap na po kami. After that, pinupuntahan na niya po ‘yung tatay ko, ‘yung nanay ko. Kinakausap na po niya,” AJ revealed. He even made regular trips from Batangas to her home in Pampanga to prove his intentions.
AJ Raval also addressed the controversies surrounding Aljur, saying she held no judgment when she decided to be with him. “Sobrang pogi ni Aljur. Maliit ang face. Actually, Tito Boy, magkamukha po kami sa personal,” she added.
Aljur was previously married to Kylie Padilla until their 2021 separation, amid allegations of infidelity. AJ strongly denied being the third party and dismissed rumors claiming she and Aljur already had a child together.
