Inka Magnaye defended Mat Crespo
Voice talent Inka Magnaye spoke about the corruption allegations against her boyfriend, Mat Crespo.
Inka rose to fame for being the voice behind famous brands in the Philippines. Aside from endorsement projects, she also hosts live events, including shows and concerts. Her voice and delivery are being admired by many.
More than her talent, her followers are also loving her outlook in life. She would share motivational stories on her social media platforms. Aside from these, she would also get the attention of the online community with her thoughts on social issues and current events.
However, a post on Reddit under r/ChikaPH mentioned that Inka Magnaye had been silent about the recent corruption and speculated that it was because of her boyfriend is working in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Taga DPWH Iloilo DAW diumano jowa ni Inka?” The Reddit post has this title. With this, the uploader asked, “Kaya ba quiet siya lately sa issue?” and encouraged people from Iloilo who knew something about this to speak.
Based on the article in PEP, Inka answered the allegations against Mat through her post on her Facebook page. Her boyfriend, Mat Crespo, is a civil engineer who works in DPWH Iloilo.
The voice talent said, “We, Mat and myself, are legitimate taxpayers and are obviously against corruption of any kind. And we want those who mishandled the funds to be held accountable.”
She also explained that she was out of town for a taping, hence, she was unable to respond to the issue immediately. The voice talent also said that she was trying to center herself amidst the bashing that was thrown at them online.
“And my comments have been off because nobody likes reading hateful and untrue comments about them. It’s kind of crazy how one post from an anonymous account was all the evidence some people needed to condemn us to a witch hunt. I didn’t realize that this was how things work now,” she further explained.
Inka Magnaye also stressed that she is not living a luxurious life. She said that she has no collection of luxury cars or expensive bags. They also seldom have their extravagant trips abroad. However, people were already condemning them.
The voice talent added that she does not want to speak about an issue that she is not really knowledgeable about. One reason was also that she did not speak immediately because her boyfriend might be affected.
“When the flood control issue exploded, the last thing I wanted to do was misspeak about Mat’s place of work and cause him to lose his livelihood. So instead, what I do is I repost and reshare good content with important information from credible sources. Videos from creators who do political content, posts from credible news sources,” Inka said.
She confirmed that her boyfriend is working in DPWH, but she emphasized that not everyone working in the government is corrupt. Inka encouraged the public not to discount the reality that there are good people who are truly serving the people and the country.
