Michael V talked about his new character, Ciala Dismaya
Seasoned comedian Michael V shared his reaction when he saw businesswoman Sarah Discaya during the Senate Hearing on anomalous food control projects.
Michael, also known as Bitoy, is known for introducing comedic characters through the longest-running gag show, Bubble Gang. He would do spoofs, parodies, and impersonations.
When Sarah Discaya became a trending topic on social media because of the Senate Hearing, many netizens immediately noticed her resemblance to Bitoy. With this, netizens had been requesting that the comedian impersonate the current controversial personality.
Not long after the virality of Discaya and Bitoy’s resemblance, GMA released a teaser for Bubble Gang featuring Ciala Dismaya, which made netizens and fans so excited.
Following the teaser release, the camp of Sarah Discaya shared her reaction. It was said that the businesswoman was not offended by this.
In an interview, the comedian shared his reaction upon seeing Discaya on TV, based on the article in Bandera. “Actually una kong napansin kaagad ‘yan sa Senate hearing. Ako mismo napansin ko na. Parang kamukha ko siya. Parang konting effort na lang magagaya ko na siya,” Bitoy said.
He also shared that he thought of doing a skit about this because of people’s demand. One of the netizens who requested this had this comment: “They heard us!”
The comedian had seen portions of the Senate hearing. Initially, he did not intend to do an impersonation right away. However, the messages from netizens flooded his feed. Then, he suggested this to the creative team of their gag show, and their idea was the same.
The teaser was released on Monday, September 8, and this went viral right away. The comedian was happy with the excited reactions from netizens.
“Nagulat ako dahil nakatalikod pa lang, ‘di pa nga nila nakikita ‘yung mukha, na-excite na agad ‘yung mga tao. Abangan ninyo this Sunday, mas lalo kayong matutuwa sa inihanda namin,” the comedian said.
Michael V also said that surely this parody would be meaningful, impactful, and of course, funny. He added that they tackled the same issue that was being tackled in the Senate.
“Pero as usual with the Bubble Gang formula, kailangan ilihis mo ng konti at humorous siya. Ang attempt namin ay hindi para manira ng tao kundi para magpatawa ng mga tao,” the comedy icon said.
