Crist Briand Says Sorry: Vlogger to Undergo Therapy, Serve Community After “Baboy na Halal” Post

Crist Briand Faces Consequences: One-Month Silence, Psychiatric Consultations, & Community Service

CRIST BRIAND – Facing backlash for an offensive online remark, Davao-based content creator Brader has admitted his mistake and vowed to undergo psychiatric consultation and community service.

Social media influencer Crist Briand Oncoda, widely recognized online as Brader, has publicly apologized after receiving backlash for his controversial “Baboy na Halal” post that offended members of the Muslim community. The apology was delivered on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Davao City.

“I sincerely apologize for the post I made, which offended members of the Muslim community. I understand that my words and actions were inappropriate and caused pain, and I take full responsibility,” Brader said in his statement.

Taking accountability, the vlogger announced that he would step away from social media for a month. “I will refrain from creating and posting any content for a month. I will attend a psychiatric consultation together with my mother in order to better understand myself and my actions,” he added.

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-Davao Region, together with the Davao City Muslim Affairs Office (DCMAO), mediated a settlement between Oncoda and the concerned community. Highlighting the goal of reconciliation, NCMF Regional Director Arch. Sherilla Porza-Sawah stated, “This settlement is not only about addressing an offense, but also about building bridges of respect and understanding within our diverse communities.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Brader agreed to halt all online activity for one month, with the exception of republishing his apology once a week. He also pledged to take part in community programs such as feeding initiatives and immersion activities intended to support Muslim communities, which will be monitored by NCMF and DCMAO.

In addition, he is required to undergo psychiatric consultations with his mother and regularly submit updates on his treatment progress. After completing the suspension and community service requirements, Brader will work with NCMF and the local government on a peace advocacy campaign promoting cultural awareness and responsible online behavior.

The NCMF reminded him that he “shall at all times conduct himself in a manner befitting a true Dabawenyo, upholding the values of ‘Dabawenyo DCplinado,’ by exercising respect, accountability, and cultural sensitivity in his words and actions, both online and offline.”

In his final remarks, Brader assured the public that he would avoid repeating the same mistake: “I shall conduct myself in a manner that befits a true Dabawenyo, by exercising respect and accountability and cultural sensitivity in my words and actions, both online and offline. Thank you for giving me the chance to correct my mistake and to grow from this experience.”
