Janus del Prado shared his thoughts on the recent issue involving Awra Briguela
Actor Janus del Prado said that showbiz personality Awra Briguela is doing too much in order to defend herself in the “misgendering issue.”
To recall, Awra’s intention to defend herself came from a comment from social media personality Jack Argota questioned an article art card using the pronoun “her” for Awra. āAnong her? Goodluck bro!ā the social media personality said.
This garnered polarizing comments from the online community. Influencers who belong to the LGBTQIA+ community rallied behind Awra, while some people also defended Argota, especially against personal attacks because of his disability.

In a recent social media post, based on the article in PEP, Janus del Prado also shared his thoughts on the issue. The actor shared an open letter. He pointed out that what Awra was doing was hurting the community.
āAwra. You are doing too much to the point that you are hurting the gay community,ā the outspoken actor began. People are starting to turn against the entire gay community because of this kind of entitlement. Nadadamay sila sa bashing,” Janus said.
For him, this has overshadowed the identity and attention from biological women, their struggles, and their place in society. He also said that Awra should stop acting like she is being oppressed because she is not.
Janus also pointed out that Pinoys just followed the culture of using gender alphabet and new pronouns from the US and other Western countries. For him, this has just destroyed the whole ideology.

The actor also pointed out that younger generations of gays should listen to older gays like hairstylist Ricky Reyes because they know better. āAnd quite frankly, the LGBT community hasnāt been about the Lesbians and the Gays in a very long time. You made it all about these neo genders and pronouns that lack common sense,” he added.
Janus del Prado also asked the other members of the LGBTQIA+ community to stop being enablers and call out other members who are already doing too much. For him, this will just hurt the whole community.
He also pointed out that there is nothing wrong if Awra Briguela wants to be called with female pronouns, but the showbiz personality should also accept the fast that not everyone will go along with what she wants.
āIf you want to call yourself a āSheā or a āHer,ā then go, live, and enjoy your life the way you want to. No oneās stopping you. Just donāt expect and force everyone else to play along,ā Janus said.
