Kitchie Nadal Breaks Silence on Her Disappearance From Music Scene
KITCHIE NADAL – Singer-songwriter Kitchie Nadal finally opened up about why she stepped away from the limelight, and it has everything to do with family.
Kitchie Nadal has finally revealed why she took a step back from the music scene in recent years. In an interview with Ogie Diaz on his YouTube vlog, Kitchie opened up about how motherhood and a shift in priorities led to her hiatus from performing.
“Parang meron akong season kasi na gusto ko lang magsulat or mag-record. Until now ganun pa rin eh. Tapos sumunod na rin ‘yung time na nag-asawa na ako, nagka-baby na ako… hands-on mom ako, ako nag-aalaga,” she said, explaining how building a family in Spain changed her focus.

Even before settling down, Kitchie admitted that her passion for songwriting began to take precedence over live performances. “But even before I got married, may time na parang gusto ko na ring mag-concentrate sa songwriting, may season na ganun eh — create, recording. So ‘yung mga gigs ko, pinipili ko talaga ‘yan. Dati kasi malakas pa ako, kabataan siyempre di ba? Sobrang excited ka mag-gig all the time. Pero may season na siguro na ‘yung energy mo, kailangan mo na ‘yung pacing,” she reflected.
Despite the time away, Kitchie is ready to reconnect with fans through her upcoming concert, New Ground Manila 2025, happening on June 21 at the Araneta Coliseum. After a sold-out show at the New Frontier Theater last year, she’s optimistic about her return. “Nung last year, I celebrated my 20th anniversary [sa New Frontier Theater], nakita ko talaga na marami pa talagang gustong manood na hindi nakanood. Sold out.”
“Kaya siguro hindi na ako kinakabahan kung anong mangyari man. Parang naka-focus lang ako dun sa creative side ng concert, gusto ko lang to have an excellent concert,” she added.
Her husband, Carlos Lopez, is fully supportive, though Kitchie admits it’s hard being away from her kids. “’Yung mister ko sobrang supportive. Ako pa ‘yung medyo nag-aalangan kasi iiwan ko ‘yung kids. Iyon ‘yung pinakamahirap sa akin. Talagang nili-limit ko talaga ‘yung time na aalis ako away from them.”
Fans can expect a bold new direction from her music. “What I’m most excited about are the new collaborations, especially with guest artists I’ve never worked with before. We’re doing something really out of the box this time, mixing genres and creating moments that are totally unexpected, something fans definitely haven’t seen from me yet,” she teased.
