Duterte calls a reporter “small mind” when he was asked about joke on the vice president’s legs.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte scolded a reporter when he was asked why he joked about ogling Vice President Leni Robredo’s legs during Cabinet meeting.
Duterte on Wednesday was asked by Marlon Ramos, reporter of Philippine Daily Inquirer if it was necessary to make such remarks in an event commemorating a tragedy.
This is following Duterte’s comments in Tacloban City during the third anniversary of super typhoon Yolanda that he looks at Leni’s legs during the meeting of the Cabinet especially is he is wearing skirt or dress.
According to Ramos, there are remarks from the viewing public that it was inappropriate for the event and even tasteless.
Duterte insisted there is no problem on what he said.
“Tuhod lang? I said she was wearing skirt? Pero tuhod walang ano… Sabi ko, hindi nagsisimba ito.. It is appropriate. As a matter of fact, it is good. So that’s the problem there? Diyan naman kayong mga media,” Duterte said.
The chief executive clarified that he makes the joke to lighten the moment whenever he feels mad on one thing.
“And I said, totoo naman, and I said that every meeting, you ask all Cabinet members, just to lighten the moment. What so special about the knee of a person?” he added.
“It is necessary to make people laugh. For them to enjoy the occasion, kasi galit ako. I was angry yesterday, kasi after 42 billion sa NHA pati 30 billion sa DSWD (hindi kami kasali diyan ha, kasi bago lang kami pumasok) ang naka-occupy pa lang is 4, 000. To break the eyes, yon ang ginawa ko. So what’s so special about the body of the woman, or the knee of woman na walang taliop. Ibig sabihin, baka hindi nagsisimba,” Duterte said.
