A decision was released regarding Darryl Yap-Vic Sotto’s case
The court partially granted veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto’s petition for a writ of habeas data against Pepsi Paloma movie director Darryl Yap.
To recall, on January 1, Darryl’s VinCentiments released a less than a minute teaser of his current controversial movie featuring the life and tragic death of Pepsi Paloma, one of the 80’s Softdrink Beauties.
In the teaser, Vic’s name was mentioned when Pepsi was confronted by Charito Solis. Pepsi filed a r@pe case against Vic but this was withdrawn.

As his reply to the controversial teaser, Vic Sotto filed 19 counts of cyber libel against Darryl Yap and the petition for writ of habeas data. Last January 17, Vic and Darryl attended the hearing for the petition filed by the Eat Bulaga host against the director.
In a recent report from GMA News, it was stated that on January 24, 2025, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court 205 partially granted Vic’s petition for writ of habeas data against the Pepsi Paloma movie director.

Direk Darryl and any person or entity acting on his behalf, including his production team VinCentiments were ordered to delete and take down the teaser from all online platforms, social media, or any other medium.
It was stated that the teaser showed a conversation between two deceased individuals which could not be verified if this really happened. However, the court is allowing the director to continue with the movie production and the film release. This was signed by Presiding Judge Liezel A. Aquiatan.

Direk Darryl Yap recently announced that they finished filming the Pepsi Paloma movie and this is set to be released in cinemas on February 5. In a recent Facebook post, the director reacted to interviews about Pepsi. He said that these so-called friends of the late actress had nothing else to say but “paninira” about Pepsi.
