Darryl Yap Reacts To Interviews About Pepsi Paloma

Darryl Yap reiterated that Pepsi Paloma’s family’s side of the story was not published

Director Darryl Yap reacted to the recent interviews about the late actress Pepsi Paloma whose life and tragic death are the subject of his upcoming movie.

The movie has been receiving negative comments, scrutiny, and questions from many people, especially those who questioned the director’s credibility in telling the story of one of the most controversial actresses in the Philippine entertainment industry.

Direk Darryl did show fear or hesitation despite the making of this was “masalimuot”, even though it has not yet been released. This even prompted a legal battle between him and veteran comedian host Vic Sotto.

Pepsi Paloma’s fellow Softdrink Beauties Sarsi Emmanuelle, Coca Nicolas, and Myra Manibog had an interview on TV5’s broadcaster Julius Babao’s YouTube channel.

They stressed that Pepsi and her mother were not okay. Sarsi even claimed that the late actress felt insecure about her success. They also said that Pepsi was a loner and had the tendency to end her own life.

In another video, Julius Babao shared his interview with Charito Solis’s niece and director Nick Lizaso which apparently contradicted Direk Darryl Yap’s statements about the late actress.

In the director’s recent Facebook post, he shared his thoughts on recent interviews about his Pepsi Paloma movie. “Himbis mainis, napapangiti ako tuwing may bagong pakulo, pautot at interbyu mula sa mga kung sinu-sino ang ilang gustong makisawsaw,” he wrote.

He said that he imagined what would be the faces of these people after they watched his movie. The director stressed that his movie is about showing the truth from Pepsi’s family, her mother, and her brother, whose side of the story was not asked.

“Pamilyang hindi naman hiningan ng panig, pinagbintangan ng kung anu-ano at hanggang ngayon ay tinatanggalan ng karapatang magkwento,” he said.

Direk Darryl also said that his movie is based on published articles and news items that are readily available online.

Ngayon, matapos ang 40 taon—makikilala natin si Pepsi sa Punto De Vista ng kanyang Ina— at ng kapatid nyang kasama niya mismo sa bahay bago sya pumanaw,” the director said.

Darryl Yap said that recent interviews with Pepsi’s so-called friends have been circulating but they were doing “paninira” while some were just trying to involve themselves in the noise created by this yet-to-be-released movie.
