Sylvia Sanchez talked about Arjo Atayde as an actor
Award-winning Sylvia Sanchez admitted that her son actor-politician Arjo Atayde is better than her.
Arjo has proven that he deserves a spotlight in the entertainment industry and not just a “nepo baby.” The actor received positive reviews for his portrayal in the movie Topakk which is part of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 even though he was not hailed as the Best Actor.
Sylvia is indeed a proud mom. Their family’s production company Nathan Studios produced this film and received the MMFF Special Jury Prize.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, Sylvia Sanchez acknowledged the acting caliber of her son Arjo Atayde.
“Sobra akong proud. Sobrang proud na masasabi ko mas magaling sa akin anak ko. Sobra. As an actor, mas magaling siya sa akin. Nakita ko yun,” the seasoned actress shared.
She also admitted that Arjo has more depth as an actor and he is different from her even though he inherited her acting prowess. Sylvia also shared that Arjo would surprise her with his portrayal. At times, she would just ask herself, “Saan galing yun? Saan galing yung pag-portray mo?”
Aside from Arjo, Sylvia is also proud of her daughters Ria and Gela, who are co-producers of this film. The seasoned actress commended her daughters’ intelligence in this field. She said that Ria and Gela are the techie ones.
Meanwhile, Sylvia Sanchez shared that since Topakk became part of the MMFF 2024, their holiday schedule was not followed. She shared that it has been a tradition for the Atayde family to have a party on Christmas Day and this year, they were not able to attend for the first time in 34 years because of MMFF. However, she said that she is simply happy and grateful.
