Vic Sotto Admits He Was Hurt By What TAPE Said About TVJ

Vic Sotto talked about the issue they had with their former producer

Veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto admitted that he was hurt by what TAPE Inc. said to him and fellow Eat Bulaga hosts Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon.

The TVJ trio has become an icon in the entertainment industry. In 2023, the issue that happened between the iconic trio and their former show producer was a hot topic in showbiz. TVJ decided to resign and announced this on air and other hosts followed their decision.

Eat Bulaga is the longest-running noontime show in the Philippines and it has aired on various TV networks over the years. Currently, the show is airing on TV5.

In a recent interview on Toni Talks, the YouTube talk show of Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga, Vic Sotto was asked about the Eat Bulaga-TAPE issue. To recall, this conflict reached a legal battle.

TVJ was fighting that they deserved to use the Eat Bulaga title since it was coined by Joey de Leon but TAPE opposed this and claimed that the company owned the right to use the name.

Vic said that they were happy with GMA, despite what happened, and they have nothing against the network. “We were happy with GMA, until now eh wala naman kaming masamang tinapay with GMA people. We’re still friends. Ang naging problema lang namin is with TAPE,” Vic said.

The veteran comedian-host also said that for 44 years, they were making money for the production company but all of a sudden they will just be disregarded because they are already old and they should be removed from the show.

“Eh Eat Bulaga yan eh, kami yun eh. Si Joey nag-imbento nung title eh. Tapos we really worked hard for it,” he stressed.

Vic Sotto recalled when TAPE called for a general meeting. They were like a big happy family in the show and all of a sudden that bad news would hit them. The general meeting was intended for the announcement that the big boss decided to remove the TVJ and this hurt his feelings.

‘The boss will call for a general meeting, announcing that Tito, Vic, and Joey, thank you, nice working with you.’ Huh? Ang sakit. Ang sakit nun,” the veteran comedian-host said.
