Here’s Risa Hontiveros Message For Pastor Quiboloy
RISA HONTIVEROS – Senator Risa Hontiveros has a frank message for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy relating to his Senate bid.
The 2025 Midterm Elections are approaching, with both local and national elections on the horizon. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has concluded the period for filing Certificates of Candidacy (CoC), setting the stage for a competitive electoral season. Among the various candidacies that have emerged, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s Senate bid has raised eyebrows and sparked controversy.
A month prior, Pastor Quiboloy, who is currently facing multiple serious charges, surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP). His arrest followed months of extensive search operations, culminating in a heightened effort at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City, which included drilling operations to locate him.
Senator Risa Hontiveros has openly expressed her disapproval of Quiboloy’s bid for a Senate seat. In a statement reported by Philstar, she questioned the audacity of Quiboloy to run for office despite his ongoing legal troubles. “Apollo Quiboloy, magkaroon naman kayo ng kaunting hiya,” she remarked, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations against him, including human trafficking and child abuse.
Senator Hontiveros highlighted the contradiction of a man facing such severe accusations presenting himself as a candidate for public office. “Para sa isang taong humaharap sa patong-patong na kaso kabilang ang human trafficking at child abuse, at nagtago pa nga sa batas, nagkaroon pa talaga kayo ng lakas ng loob na ipresenta ang iyong sarili sa taumbayan para maging mambabatas,” she stated.
This statement underscores the moral implications of Quiboloy’s candidacy, especially given his attempts to evade the law.
Hontiveros further urged the Filipino electorate to be discerning in their choices, emphasizing the importance of not electing individuals with a history of legal infractions. As the elections approach, her calls resonate with many voters concerned about integrity and accountability among those vying for positions of power.
