Kween Yasmin Explains Why She Has No Plans To Enter Politics
KWEEN YASMIN – Content creator Kween Yasmin revealed the reason why she has no plans to enter politics.
Yasmin Asistido, also known as “Kween Yasmin,” first rose to internet stardom in 2018 after a video of her singing her rendition of the popular song “Hayaan Mo Sila” by Ex Battalion went viral. The video, humorously titled “Hayaan Mo Sila by Ex Battalion (Version Lalaking Manloloko by Yasmin Asistido),” quickly gained traction, amassing over 460,000 views on YouTube. On Facebook, its popularity soared even higher, doubling its view count.
Her success propelled her to become a recognized content creator, and her popularity has only continued to grow. Asistido began posting more song covers, dance performances, and parodies of scenes from well-loved Filipino movies like “The Hows of Us,” “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” and “Starting Over Again.” These videos were widely shared and received positive feedback from her growing fanbase.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kween Yasmin took her online presence to a new level by hosting Facebook live sessions, where she directly interacted with her followers, further cementing her place in the social media landscape.
Recently, as more influencers and celebrities are considering careers in politics, some have speculated whether Asistido would run in the upcoming 2025 elections. However, the “All-Purpose Queen” and “Asia’s Songbook” of social media was quick to clarify her stance on the matter. When asked about a potential candidacy, Asistido humorously but firmly rejected the idea.
“Your honor, hindi po. Kasi kailangan kapag tatakbo ka, alam mo ‘yung possibilities, ‘yung alituntunin, ‘yung gusto mong ipatakbo,” she said.
“Hindi ‘yung sinabihan ka lang, tatakbo ka na. Kailangan desido ka talaga kasi buhay ang nakasalalay d’yan, pangalan mo nakasalalay jan, maraming tao — maraming mga mamamayang Pilipino ang nangangailangan,” she added.
In true Kween Yasmin fashion, she concluded her statement with her signature humor, quipping, “Running man, pwede pa,” leaving her fans amused while underscoring that her political aspirations are nonexistent for now.
