A case was formally filed against John Amores
PBA player John Amores and his brother John Red Amores are officially facing an “attempted homicide” case following the shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna.
A video showing the shooting incident went viral. The conflict started from a bad call during a basketball game. An eyewitness narrated that the fight started actually by John’s brother and the teammate of Lee Cacalda, the victim.
John and his brother surrendered to the police on Thursday morning. Upon knowing about this, Lee’s mother rushed to the police station and emotionally made a declaration that she would teach John a lesson as she did not intend to withdraw the case.

On Friday, The Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Lumban, Laguna released a document stating that an “attempted homicide” case was formally filed against John Amores and his brother.
The recommended bail for John was P24,000 while it was P10,000 for his brother, based on the report from ABS-CBN News.
John and his relatives refused to give any statement regarding the case but his camp is preparing the necessary document for the granting of temporary freedom for the Amores brother.

Because of the shooting incident, John became a trending topic on social media. Netizens have been criticizing him for acting that way over a basketball game. Some said that he deserved to be banned from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
To recall, he became controversial when he was just playing in the NCAA for Jose Rizal University back in 2022. He attacked and punched a player from the other team. Because of this, he was removed from the team.
Despite what happened, he still expressed his dream of being part of PBA. In 2023, he tried his luck at the professional basketball league. The NorthPoint team drafted him.
