Gerald Santos made this revelation during the Senate hearing
Singer-actor Gerald Santos revealed the identity of the musical director who allegedly abused him when he was just 15 years old.
After 19 years, Gerald has openly talked about what he experienced when he was still a minor. The revelation made by Sparkle artist Sandro Muhlach pushed him to speak up. Gerald showed sympathy to Sandro who accused GMA independent contractors Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz of harassing him in their hotel room.
With this, Gerald recalled what happened to him when he was still a contestant in GMA’s defunct singing contest Pinoy Pop Superstar.
The singer-actor previously said that he filed a complaint against the musical director but he was allegedly ignored. Gerald Santos also said that he was “pinag-initan” or “na-ban” and was given lesser projects until nothing was offered.
With this, he just asked GMA Artist Center to release him from his contract so that he could find work in other networks.
In his past posts and statements, Gerald did not mention the name or reveal the identity of the musical director who allegedly abused him. However, on August 27, during the Senate hearing, based on the article in TNT Abante, the singer-actor finally named his alleged abuser.
“Ngayon po ay handa ko ng harapin ang tunay kong kalaban. Ang nanghalay at umabuso sa akin noon ako po ay 15 years old pa lamang. Si Mr. Danny Tan,” he said.
In the statement that Gerald read, he said that he is still exploring the legal options that he can use to file a formal case against the musical director.
He also said that it gave him ease knowing that GMA did something with his complaint 19 years ago and if only they were informed about the result of the investigation, then, they could have done the next step already at that time.
Nevertheless, Gerald Santos expressed gratitude to GMA for the action they did. He also apologized to his former home network for the negative implications of this issue.
“Pero hindi ko po kungad nasirain at tunisan ng magandang imahe at reputasyon ng GMA. Hindi ko po ito laban against GMA kundi sa mga taong gumagawa ng kahalayan at kasamaan,” he said.
Meanwhile, as of this writing, Danny Tan has not released a statement yet about the accusation against him.
