Ivana Alawi Reveals Her Simple Wish For Suitors

Ivana Alawi, to those who want to court her: ‘Gusto ko ng normal date’

IVANA ALAWI – Youtube star and actress Ivana Alawi revealed her simple wish for her suitors.

According to Ivana Alawi, some of her suitors admitted to being intimidated by her. Ivana was introduced as the celebrity endorser for the new collaboration between the Filipino-owned jewelry brand LVNA by Drake Dustin and the international brand Barbie on Thursday, August 8.

According to the actress and social media influencer, it is an honor to be compared to the iconic toy she often played with as a child. “It’s an honor and I love Barbie. Ever since I was a kid, lagi akong naglalaro ng Barbie. Kahit yung movie pinanood ko and I really look up to Barbie. Ang ganda kasi tingnan.”

Like the character in the Barbie movie adaptation, Ivana said she learned, “You don’t have to be perfect because you have to be you. Hindi naman na palaging perfect ka. So, when I watched the movie, sabi ko, ang ganda ng storyline. It’s really being you and lahat ng emotions mo and all is valid.”

Aside from the Barbie Doll, there’s also the famous Mattel toy partner named Ken. So at the media conference, the entertainment press couldn’t help but ask if she had found the Ken of her life.

“Hindi… pa,” Ivana admitted with a laugh.

She quickly clarified, “I’m dating other people, so hindi ako in a relationship.”

In a separate interview, Ivana admitted that she is now more cautious about entering a relationship because she has experienced heartbreak. “Siguro kapag nasasaktan ka, mas nagma-mature ka,” Ivana explained.

Recalling her past heartbreak, she said, “One month akong iyak nang iyak. Iniyak ko talaga siya. ‘Tapos tinitingnan ko sa salamin, sabi ko, ang pangit-pangit ko siguro para lokohin ako. After a few years, I’ve worked on myself, talagang bahala kayo, mahalin ko talaga muna ang sarili ko.”

So now, she said, “Hindi na ako masyadong nasasaktan, yung puso ko, kasi, alam mo, hindi na ako nagmamahal nang todo-todo. 50 [percent] na lang. Di ba, hindi mo naman dapat ibigay lahat. Yun ang mali ko dati, binibigay ko lahat.”

For now, it seems she’s just enjoying dating. Her reasoning is, “Di ba, if you’re not sure with the one, wala namang masama kasi wala naman kayong commitment and you’re not in a relationship. So, there’s nothing wrong with also going out and have dinners and having nice conversations with other people.”

But the press asked, isn’t it hard to ask Ivana out on a date?

The 27-year-old actress admitted that some people have confessed to being intimidated by her.

Aside from her Barbie-like appearance, it seems her popularity and status in life are also intimidating. However, Ivana said this shouldn’t be an issue. In fact, she prefers a man who has the courage to express his feelings for her.

The StarStruck alumna said, “Ang hirap kasi ng mga hindi [confident], yung mga duwag. Ang dami talagang intimidated and they would tell me na, ‘Alam mo, natakot talaga ako sa ‘yo kasi mayaman ka na, you’re doing well in life. What else can I offer to you?’ What can you offer me? e, hindi naman ganun ang relasyon.”

Her message to those who want to date her:

“Kahit nga saan nila ako dalhin. Yung iba masyadong pasabog. Parang kapag masyadong sosyal, hindi rin ako nai-impress.

“Gusto ko tratuhin nila ako ng normal. Huwag silang mag-expect na, ‘Ay gusto niyan sosyal.’ Gusto ko ng normal date.”

In the end, Ivana joked that she prefers Filipino men, “Pero ang hirap. Sabi ko, hindi naman ako pang-AFAM.”
