Michelle Dee talked about her pageant journey
Beauty queen-actress Michelle Dee said that she is the “most bashed” Miss Universe Philippines winner.
Michelle has a colorful pageant journey. She first joined Miss World Philippines and got the chance to represent the country in the international pageant in 2019. After that, she joined Miss Universe Philippines twice and got the crown on her second try.
Michelle talked about her pageant journey in a recent vlog released by her friend celebrity photographer BJ Pascual, based on the article in Bandera.
The photographer said that he did not imagine that his friend would be a beauty queen because he saw her as an “anti-pageant.” Michelle Dee admitted that she did not dream of becoming a beauty queen because watching pageant videos, she told herself that she couldn’t do that.
This is even though her mother is former Miss International Melanie Marquez. However, Michelle’s perception changed when she became a judge in a pageant and saw the support that she got.
The Kapuso also mentioned in the interview that she is the “most bashed” MUPH queen. “I was trending for weeks on the negative side. Of course, it is a natural occurrence after a pageant. Siyempre nagagalit ‘yung fans ng iba. They didn’t feel like I was deserving because I was very anti-pageant,” she said.
Michelle stressed that her vision was to break barriers and to change people’s perception of pageantry and she thinks that she was able to do that. She also said that people have different views when it comes to success but as long as one realizes the vision, then it can be considered a success.
“I hope the [beauty pageant] candidates this year own for themselves. Because after the success of my Miss Universe journey, I just hope they don’t think that whatever I did was the formula to success,” Michelle Dee said.
