Ronaldo Valdez Behavior On Set, Boots Anson-Rodrigo Reveals

There was a notable difference in the behavior of Ronaldo Valdez on the set

Veteran actress Boots Anson-Rodrigo revealed the behavior that the late veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez had on the set of the movie Ikaw At Ako.

It is the most recently released movie that included Ronaldo which featured Paolo Contis and Rhian Ramos as the lead characters. In the movie, Boots is Ronaldo’s leading lady. Her character has Alzheimer’s disease and he promised to take care of her.

That movie is one of the last films that Ronaldo shot. The veteran actor passed away on December 17. He shot a movie with his son Janno Gibbs, who also directed this project, and this is set to be released in January 2024.

During the filming of Ikaw At Ako, Boots Anson-Rodrigo shared what she noticed about Ronaldo Valdez’s behavior, based on the article in Inquirer.

She said that there was a notable difference from what he was before. Sadness can be seen in his eyes, the veteran actress shared. It is because of what has happened in Ronaldo’s personal life, especially when he and his wife separated.

“I think this had to do with his personal life. I don’t know if it’s common knowledge that his marriage broke up some three years ago. I never asked him the reason why, but of course, I know that this had an effect on him. Janno is in his 50s now, so that means they’ve been together for over 50 years,” Boots shared.

Aside from his emotional state, Boots also noticed that Ronaldo’s health had deteriorated. He had a hard time walking on the set and he used the cane to assist him. More than the physical pain, the veteran actress said that what he noticed more was that Ronaldo was sad.

Although he would crack jokes from time to time, she said that there was a notable difference in his behavior. “Once, when we were rehearsing, he told me, ‘Mare, masakit dito,’ while pointing to his heart. Whatever he was going through emotionally had a big impact on him. I felt too shy to ask him about it,” she shared.

She also shared that Ronaldo has been very “iyakan” even before but he was more emotional when they were doing this project.
