Felipe Gozon Retires As GMA CEO, Who Will Replace Him?

This is the new GMA CEO after Felipe Gozon stepped down

GMA Network Inc. Chief Executive Officer Felipe Gozon is retiring and in 2024, the media company will be led by a new CEO.

The Kapuso network is one of the largest TV stations in the Philippines. Gozon has been leading the company as the CEO for the longest time. Many years have passed, and under his leadership, the network was able to give entertainment and public service.

Based on the article in PEP, Gozon will officially leave his post next year. In 2024, the network’s new year will also mean that it will have a new leader.

During the birthday celebration of Felipe Gozon, he officially announced that he is stepping down and will give the seat to GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit Jr.

Even though Gozon left his CEO position, he will remain Chairman of the Board and adviser of GMA Network Inc.

The GMA Board of Directors has approved my retirement as Chief Executive Officer effective December 31, 2023. But I will still continue as Chairman/Adviser and Chairman of the Programming Committee. The Board also approved my recommendation to elect Mr. Gilberto R. Duavit Jr. as the new Chief Executive Officer to replace me effective January 1, 2024,” the outgoing CEO stated.

Meanwhile, as a lawyer, Atty. Felipe Gozon has received recognition in law, as well as in media, public service, and business. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines (among the first 10 of his class) and his Master of Laws degree from Yale University Law School. The TV executive passed the Bar in 1962, placing 13th in his batch.

One of the recent recognition he received was a Doctor of Laws degree (Honoris Causa) from the Wesleyan University Philippines  (2022).

This year, GMA has a remarkable collaboration with ABS-CBN. Gozon’s daughter GMA Films President Annette Gozon signed a contract with ABS-CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak.
