Voters: Choose Candidates With Moral And Religious Values
With the fast approaching 2016 election, for sure we are all set with our choices. Archbishop of Cotabato Orlando Cardinal Quevedo urged everyone especially the voters yesterday to choose carefully the candidates basing on their moral and religious values.
Quevedo said in his pastoral letter, ““You may have chosen your bets. Let me stir your conscience in choosing the country’s next leaders in accordance with the moral and social principles of the Church.”
Quevedo urges people/voters not to be swayed by the surveys we are seeing on media and claims of change they are sugaring to us.
Quevedo said that what we really need is radical change. And he finely speaks of profound change in everyone’s mind, behavior and most especially the values. He added that a candidate who is promising change could have the same behaviors and values that require change.

He also highlighted that we must choose a leader who has respect the sanctity of life and has the program to help the long-term conflict in Mindanao.
He said, “Select a candidate who by belief and practice demonstrates support for the right to life.”
He also highlighted that everyone must choose candidates who has the moral integrity.
Quevedo said that corruption is very critical in our country and billions of pesos go into somebody’s private pocket instead of spending it to uplift the lives of those who needed it most. He said, “Select a candidate who is not tainted by corruption, unexplained wealth and properties and enrichment in office.”
The copy of Quevedo’s letter was also given to Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines president Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas for the nuns and his archdiocese.
