Newlywed Caught With 14 Live Bullets In Caticlan Airport
A newlywed couple was stopped by the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) and the Aviation Security Group of the Philippines National Police in Caticlan airport after finding 14 live bullets from one of their bags.
According to a report on PhilStar, Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas, Aviation Security Group Director, said that the couple is bound to Manila to spend their honeymoon. But, the security officers named Christian Tesoro and Jee Ar Flores sighted the bullets from the x-ray machine. The 14 live bullets were found on the bag of Jerome Sulit.
“They were surprised to find the bullets there and could not explain how it happened,” Senior Insp. Frensy Andrade, Malay police chief, said as quoted by Inquirer.
Jerome and his wife Rochelle have denied that they own and placed the bullets in the bag.
SPO4 Ernie Ramos questioned Sulit but he cannot show any document to allow him carry the ammunition found in his sling bag. This is a punishable offense under the Republic Act 8294.
Then, according to reports, the couple were detained at the Malay police station and were brought to Kalibo, Aklan.
It is also said that only Jerome will face the complaints because the bullets were found on his bag.
Andrade added that in the security camera of the airport, it can be seen that the sling bag where all the 14 live bullets were found is really in the possession of Jerome Sulit.
Balagtas expressed how couldn’t understand why people are ignoring warnings and information that carrying gvns and ammunition in airports is prohibited.
Can this incident part of the “Tanim-Bala” scheme found in airports?
