Boy Abunda shared something about Catriona Gray
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray sent this text message to King of Talk Boy Abunda before she introduced herself during the pageant.
Catriona is tagged as the most prepared candidate ever to set foot on the Miss Universe stage. She was also very hands-on in every aspect of the pageant, from the outfit she wore to the accessories that she used.
The Fil-Aussie beauty knows her Filipino roots very well. Even before she joined the Miss Universe pageant, she already had charitable endeavors and continued with her advocacy even after her reign.
Catriona Gary was just among the many beauty queens who trained under Boy Abunda for public speaking. The seasoned TV host has been conducting public speaking classes for many years.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Boy shared a story about the fourth Pinay Miss Universe. He said that before the Miss Universe introduction, Catriona sent a message to him.
The beauty queen asked the King of Talk for a suggestion. “In 2018, when Catriona Gray joined Miss Universe. The pageant was at 7 or 8 in the morning. She sent me a text message. Magi-intro raw sila sa Miss Universe in Thailand. Can you help with a quote that would help me introduce myself as I enter?” Boy shared.
He texted back and told her about Maya Angelou’s quote “I come as one, I stand as 10,000.” Catriona restructured that to fit herself and the moment where she was at. Boy said that it was one of the important elements of public speaking.
“But what Catriona did was to paraphrase that: I come as one, I stand as 104 million Filipinos. So, the first solution in public speaking is staying connected to that core. Stay connected to your truth. Stay connected to your story. That’s what public speaking is all about,” the seasoned TV host shared.
Boy Abunda added that there are people who are more afraid of public speaking than death. He said that this is based on research and it is because of one bad experience in the past.
Apparently, in the case of Catriona Gray, she was able to conquer that fear and was able to deliver well what she wanted to convey.
