The only son and namesake of former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. took the solo lead in the latest Vice-Presidential race conducted by SWS and commissioned by Businessworld. Sen. Bongbong Marcos edged out his closest rival and former survey frontrunner Sen. Chiz Escudero.
Sen. Bongbong Marcos showed a steady increase on his nationwide ratings from SWS at 26% from his 25% ratings of the 1,500 adult respondents choosing him as their top choice for Vice President. The SWS and Businessworld survey was conducted on March 30-April 2, 2016 and the results was released on early Monday morning, April 11.
Sen. Escudero saw a drop in popularity rating as he shed seven percentage points to 21% from his previous ratings of 28% while Liberal Party’s bet Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo was in a statistical tie with Sen. Escudero, given the survey’s +/-3 margin of error.
The running mate of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano is at fourth place with a steady increase from 12% to 13% this month, while Sen. Antonio Trillanes and Sen. Honasan shared the bottom spot with 5% ratings.
The BusinessWorld-commissioned survey was done using face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adults nationwide. It was conducted after the second #PiliPinas presidential debate in Cebu last March 20.
