James Harden Announces He Will Not Play in Philadelphia 76ers Again and Calls President Liar
NBA Star James Harden shocked basketball fans after announcing that he will not play in the Philadelphia 76ers team and called their president a “liar”.
The former NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) announced his departure from the Philadelphia 76ers during an Adidas event in China. The Sixers’ star guard also stated that he will never play for the team while their President, Daryl Morey, is still the team’s general manager.
In his summer-long feud with the Philadelphia 76ers over his desire to be dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers, Harden crossed a particular line. He transitioned from totally business to quite personal.
“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,” he said with a microphone in his hand, and his audience was clearly intended to extend far beyond that gym on the other side of the planet.

The statement highlight the escalating tenor of Harden’s contract negotiations with the 76ers. The 33-year-old basketball player allegedly told the organization last month that he wanted to be traded after joining the team from Brooklyn in February 2022.
The 76ers called it quits on Harden trade talks over the weekend after talks with the Los Angeles Clippers failed. Harden, a 10-time All-Star, has stated that he prefers to play elsewhere.
However, the 76ers told Harden’s management that he would be reporting to the team for training camp next month. In order to facilitate a deal, Harden decided to take up his $35.6 million player option in June.
All-Star teammate Joel Embiid expressed optimism that Harden will be a member of the 2023-24 team. The signing of Harden last year was believed to help Philadelphia finally push for an NBA championship.
Morey was the general manager of the Houston Rockets when Harden spent more than eight seasons with the team and won NBA MVP, and he acquired Harden a second time in the trade that sent Ben Simmons to the Nets.
