Robi Domingo has been a Kapamilya host for more than a decade now
Kapamilya host Robi Domingo shared the two major “sablay” that he had in his hosting career over the years.
Robi is one of the homegrown talents of ABS-CBN. For more than a decade, he proved that he can host different events and shows. He is one of the inspirations of younger hosts in the Kapamilya network.
Just recently, Robi renewed his contract with his home network. He was emotional during the signing as he said his promise that he will forever be a Kapamilya.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, the TV host shared that he can pinpoint two major “epic fail” moment that he had in hosting. He admitted that he still feels nervous every time he is on stage despite the fact that he has been doing this job for many years already.
“Always. Dont’t get me wrong, every time I go on a stage or platform kinakabahan ako and there are moments too na hindi ko kinakaya or baka mamaya napangunahan ako ng kaba,” he shared.
He shared that back in 2014, during the first season of The Voice of the Philippines, main host Toni Gonzaga had a prior engagement. They were told by the production team that there will be no new host who will replace Toni and so, Robi and Alex Gonzaga leveled up and became the main hosts for that episode.
“First time I heard my name when Peter Musngi, the Golden Voice of ABS-CBN said my name in Resorts World Manila said, ‘Mga kapamilya, please welcome your hosts Alex Gonzaga and Robi Domingo,'” he shared.
Robi said that it was music to his ear hearing the introduction when he and Alex went up on stage. He was telling his co-host that this is their time as main hosts but an unexpected thing happened.
“I saw Direk Lauren proud na proud. My first words were, ‘Magandang Kapamilya!’ and then Alex was like, ‘Pards, nakalimutan mo yung ‘gabi’!’ I was like, ‘Magandang kapamilya gabi!” Robi shared.
From that, the male TV host said that to himself that it was not his time yet. The second major “sablay” that he had was when he hosted the Miss Earth Philippines pageant. They already rehearsed their spiels but the prompter changed.
With that, he had another “epic fail” moment as a host. “I forgot her name sorry. And then sinabi ko du’n yung ‘Pelase welcome our board of judges. We got an actor, a pillar of Philippine showbiz. Please welcome Mr. Crisostopher De Leon!’” he shared.
Robi Domingo said that he saw the expression on the veteran actor’s face and he wanted to be swallowed by the ground at that time.
