TAPE Inc Denies Claims Their Advertisers Demand Refund
Television and Production Exponents Inc (TAPE) denied the claims that their advertisers are demanding for refund.
The Jalosjos family, who own TAPE Inc, clarified accusations that advertisers were now requesting refunds for money paid in advance to promote their products on Eat Bulaga. According to an earlier source, TAPE Inc was struggling to keep advertisers when TVJ decided to abandon the show.
“Puregold” is one of their major advertisers that reportedly wanted to recover the money they paid to TAPE Inc. However, in a statement, TAPE’s lawyer, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque denied the said reports, saying that Puregold respected the contract between them and TAPE.
She further stated that the contract remained in effect even though the former hosts had already left the show, as long as Eat Bulaga remained on the air. Aside from that, the marketers’ money was already non-refundable.
“The contract is between Puregold and TAPE Inc. for Eat Bulaga! show. It is coterminous with the show and not with the hosts. Thus, there is no ground for a refund even if the main hosts left. As long as there is a show ‘Eat Bulaga’ within the wide reach network, GMA Network, the contract between TAPE Inc. and Puregold shall subsist.” the lawyer said.
“These are two big companies which both respect the terms of the contract. It is stated in their contract that the same cannot be canceled, and the fee is non-refundable,” she added.
To demonstrate that Puregold and TAPE Inc still had a strong connection, Atty Abraham-Garduque said that the two firms were intending to place a section on Eat Bulaga to promote the grocery chain. Susan Co, the owner of Puregold, was a close friend of TVJ, and she was one of the first large sponsors to check on the three.
