Two of the world’s most popular leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Joko Widodo are not coming to Manila next week for the highly anticipated Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit hosted by the Philippines.
The country’s Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed to the media the President Widodo is not attending the summit while the Kremlin said that the Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to send Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in his stead.
Indonesian President Widodo decided to skip the APEC meeting to attend to domestic issues, the president decided to send Indonesia’s Trade Minister and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
According to DFA, the Indonesian President Widodo was one of the first APEC leaders to confirm their attendance at the APEC Summit. Pres. Widodo is also busy next week as he will attend the G-20 meeting in Antalya Turkey from November 15-16, 2015 and the ASEAN Summit hosted by Malaysia from November 18-22, 2015.
