Leni Robredo highlighted the importance of mental health
Mayor Leni Roberdo launched a new mental health hub in Naga City on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
After serving as the 14th vice president of the Philippines and her failed presidential bid in 2022, Robredo returned to her home city and was elected as the Naga City Mayor in 2025.
The female public servant is also known for her Angat Buhay NGO, which she established in 2022. Last year, they established the Mental Health Program Angat Kahimati.
In a recent Facebook post, Mayor Leni Robredo shared photos taken during the inauguration of the said facility.
“We started ANGAT KAHIMATI, our Mental Health Program, in 2024 as a partnership between Angat Buhay, Councilor Gayle Abonal Gomez, and the Ateneo de Naga Department of Psychology,” the Mayor wrote in the caption of her post.
She said that when they first launched the program, it was housed in the former Angat Buhay Office. Then, it was transferred to a room at the Jesse Robredo Center for Good Governance after the term of Congressman Gabby Bordado.
Robredo also shared that when she assumed office, they wanted to adopt it as a City Program with more permanent and appropriate space for the Mental Health Counselling Sessions.
“That was when we found the former Green Room on the 3rd floor of the Raul S Roco Library. We were told it was formerly used as an extension of the Mayor’s Office,” she shared.
Robredo also expressed his gratitude to their Angat Buhay partners, such as Ikea Philippines, H & F Retail Concepts, Davies Paint, Bongcayao Architectural Studios. Mayor Leni Robredo hopes this facility will be a major support to the Mental Health Unit at the City Health Office II.
It is derived from one of the legacies of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) during his tenure as vice president of the country, the “Angat Buhay Program.”
