Behind the Smile, Imelda Schweighart Opens Up About a Devastating Loss During Pageant Competition
IMELDA SCHWEIGHART – Filipino-German beauty queen Imelda Schweighart has opened up about a deeply personal tragedy she endured while competing on the international stage, earning admiration from fans for her strength and resilience.
Imelda Schweighart has shared a deeply personal experience from her time competing in the MGI All Stars pageant, revealing that she suffered a miscarriage while participating in the international competition.
The emotional disclosure came through a heartfelt Instagram post dedicated to her partner, professional surfer Rafael Thibault. Alongside photos of Rafael and their son Noah, Schweighart expressed her appreciation for the support and encouragement she received throughout her pageant journey.
“I support your surfing. You support my pageantry. Both are a million dollar lifestyle therefore my adrenaline rush is quenched for a while. The beach is waiting. Can’t wait to marvel at sunsets watching you play,” she wrote.
She also acknowledged Rafael’s unwavering presence during one of the most difficult moments of her life.
“I love you, dummy! Thanks for everything and supporting me from start to finish,” she continued.
Schweighart then revealed the heartbreaking loss she endured while competing.
“Even though I’m recovering from something big right now, I know we’ll get this through. Losing our baby might have been the worse out of joining this competition but in God’s timing we will have one again,” she shared.
Further details emerged in a comment she posted on pageant coach Kervin Lao’s Instagram account. According to Schweighart, she continued with the competition despite dealing with physical exhaustion and emotional distress.
“Dinahan-dahan ko po kasi baka himatayin ako. I saved my energy hanggang dulo. Nairaos pa rin. Kahit na dapat nagpahinga na ako,” she said.
She explained that she missed part of the rehearsals after experiencing bleeding and needing medical attention.
“Absent ako half day sa rehearsals nun dahil nag-bleeding ako. Ang sabi ng mga prod magpahinga na muna ako, pero panay sigaw sila sa akin kesyo unprofessional daw,” she stated.
Schweighart also revealed that she informed organizers she had come from the hospital but chose not to disclose the full extent of her condition.
“Sinabi ko na galing akong ospital pero dinahilan ko na lang na vertigo ako baka kasi hindi nila ako patuluyin. Ang importante natapos ko,” she noted.
Despite the challenges she faced, Schweighart completed the competition. Although her MGI All Stars journey ended before the semifinals after she missed the Top 18, many supporters have since praised her resilience, determination, and strength in overcoming a personal tragedy while fulfilling her pageant commitments.
